Only a few weeks remain until 6 December, when Federal Labour Minister Andrea Nahles will be opening the two-day IQ Congress 2016 in Berlin. Media representatives are advised to secure a seat in the front row to ensure they do not miss our renowned experts discussing the topic of migration from a wide range of different perspectives.
Authors such as Lamya Kaddor, Islamic scholar, and Feridun Zaimoğlu, winner of multiple literature awards, discuss the readiness of the German society to take in refugees with Professor Aladin El-Mafaalani, renowned sociologist. Established academics like Professor Lesleyanne Hawthorne from Australia and Dr Linda Manning from Canada will be attending our congress to talk about the sustainable labour market integration of refugees with representatives of German ministries and authorities and experts from the field. Businesspeople will be joining the discussion table as Bettina Wagner, labour lawyer, and Albin Dearing, Head of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, will be critically evaluating the maxim “Fair work for everyone” together with Simone Solka from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Media-makers and analysts will participate in investigating the state of reporting on the topic of migration. Bettina Köster, journalist at Deutschlandfunk, and the author Mark Terkessidis will be contributing their opinions alongside discourse analyst Margarete Jäger and Rob McNeil, media analyst.
High-ranking names in the migration debate will be facing each other not only throughout the four panels, but also in approximately 35 workshops and round tables, organised by experienced professionals in the field of labour market integration. Of course, our guest list is a true “who is who” of the "migration studies scene".
